Eli Lilly Rises on VERVE-102 Gene Therapy’s LDL-C Reduction
Eli Lilly shares climbed 2.24% to $1,065.00 after interim Phase 1b data showed VERVE-102, a one-time gene editing therapy, achieved durable LDL-C reductions. The treatment targets PCSK9 in the liver via in vivo base editing, demonstrating dose-dependent efficacy—88% PCSK9 reduction and 62% LDL-C drop at the highest dose.
Results from the Heart-2 trial, involving 35 adults with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia or premature coronary artery disease, were presented at the European Atherosclerosis Society Congress. Safety data supported further development, positioning Lilly competitively in cardiovascular gene therapies.
